Up at 8:20 am. We
decided to stay at St. Joe for another night, but after checking with the
office, site #5 was booked so we decided to move on. As we were coming back from St. George
yesterday, we saw another Lazy Daze headed toward St. Joe SP. We found them and chatted for a few minutes
before we left.
It was close to 2:30 as we began our drive so we stopped after 50 miles at Ochlockonee State Park (pron. oh-CLOCK-nee) located along 319 going west from Apalachicola. We were on site #11 and got a very good satellite signal. The cost was $19.80/night. This park is considered one of the "old Florida" parks and is somewhat primitive. It is located on the Ochlockonee River, 30 large sites, deep in the woods. It has nice bathroom facilities. We took a walk down to the river.
We met a young couple from Germany who are on sabbatical here in the states for one year. They had their camper van shipped from Germany to Baltimore for $2,000. Interesting.
There is not much to see here, but we did find some white squirrels. They are actually grey squirrels with a
mutated gene. There are also some in
North Carolina. Even though we paid for
two nights, we decided to move on to Manatee Springs State Park tomorrow so we
made reservations at Reserveamerica.com.
We had a large salad for dinner, watched "the Bachelor", then
off to bed.
